PC Macphail died after he collapsed whilst representing the force in the veterans section of the Police Athletic Association Badminton Championship. He was survived by his wife and nine children.

PS Thomson died when his police vehicle was involved in a collision whilst attending an emergency call to Croy village near Cumbernauld. He lost control during icy conditions and was struck by another vehicle. He was survived by his wife and two adult children.

PC Taylor died after he was brutaly attacked by two males who had escaped from the State Mental Hospital Carstairs disguised as Prison Officers. He was survived by his wife and their four children the youngest of which was 11 months old.
