PC Ritchie was a member of the force Sub-Aqua Unit he was searching the Caledonian Canal at Corpach for a missing youth when he?became trapped in a sluice at the bottom of a lock gate and was drowned.

Constable John Mitchell CLARK (45)

Edinburgh City Police

PC Clark died of head injuries having apparently fallen on his beat. He was survived by his daughter.

PC Drake was attempting to stop a stolen motor lorry being pursued by other officers when it struck his patrol car at a road-block at Dennyloanhead near Falkirk. He was survived by his wife and four children.

PC Davidson died when his police vehicle was involved in a collision whilst transporting a prisoner to Glasgow.

PI Watson collapsed and died whilst on supervisory patrol and enquiries in the village of Thornhill.

PC Stodart collapsed whilst engaged in a routine enquiry and died a short time later in hosptal. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Sergeant Donald ROBERTSON BEM (45)

PS Robertson died whilst manning a road block on the Perth to Glasgow road set up to recapture three escaped prisoners. He was struck by a motor van killing him instantly.

PC McMillan died whilst chasing a suspect at the Mineral Depot in Morrison Street Edinburgh. He vaulted a low wall but fell 20 feet into the roadway below. He was survived by his wife and three daughters the youngest of which was one year old.

PC Anderson collapsed and died after taking ill in the Rosyth police office having locked up a male who violently resisted arrest.
