PC Barnett died from gunshot wounds received on 30 December 1969. He and other officers became suspicious of a man who unknown to them had carried out a bank robbery on the outskirts of Glasgow. As he carried the proceeds into his home he was challenged by the officers who knew him as a former colleague. He invited them into his home where he produced a handgun and shot them. Posthumously awarded the Queens Police Medal for Gallantry.

PC MacMillan died at the scene of a previous RTC when he was struck by a passing car.

SC Gates died when he was assaulted by three known criminals who were in possesion of stolen property. Having alerted colleagues he followed the men who knew him to be a Special Constable. He was subsequently ambushed and savagely beaten.

DS Lumsden was a member of the force Sub-Aqua Unit he was searching the Caledonian Canal at Corpach for a missing youth when he?became trapped in a sluice at the bottom of a lock gate and was drowned.

PC Clark died of head injuries having apparently fallen on his beat. He was survived by his daughter.

PC Drake was attempting to stop a stolen motor lorry being pursued by other officers when it struck his patrol car at a road-block at Dennyloanhead near Falkirk. He was survived by his wife and four children.

PC Davidson died when his police vehicle was involved in a collision whilst transporting a prisoner to Glasgow.

Inspector John Rutherford WATSON (50)

PI Watson collapsed and died whilst on supervisory patrol and enquiries in the village of Thornhill.

PC Stodart collapsed whilst engaged in a routine enquiry and died a short time later in hosptal. He was survived by his wife and two children.

PS Robertson died whilst manning a road block on the Perth to Glasgow road set up to recapture three escaped prisoners. He was struck by a motor van killing him instantly.

PC McKenzie died when the police vehicle in which he was the passenger was involved in a collision.

DS Graham was taken to hospital with a dislocated shoulder sustained while chasing a car thief.

He was sent home and subsequently died of a heart attack due to complications to his injury.

He was survived by his wife, son and daughter.
